The Fond du Lac Family YMCA announced today that Greg Giles has officially resigned from his 16 year post as Executive Director/CEO, effective March 29, 2019, to accept the position of Chief Advancement Officer for the YMCA of Greater Houston.
In his statement Giles said, “My service to the community of Fond du Lac, through the efforts of the YMCA as well as in a community leader capacity for many other organizations, will forever be the most rewarding time spent during my professional career. The many friends my family and I have met will always be with us, and for that we are truly thankful.”
Giles has been Executive Director/CEO at the Fond du Lac Family YMCA for the last 16 years and in that time, through community collaborations, has helped rebuild the Y from a struggling facility serving 4,500 members to a thriving organization of impact that today has over 11,500 members.
The Board of Directors at the Fond du Lac Family YMCA is currently assessing their options to fill Giles’ position once he has departed. In the interim period, J.J. Raflik, Associate Executive Director, has stepped in to serve as acting Executive Director/CEO until a suitable and permanent solution is found.
“Greg Giles has changed the way this community thinks about collaboration, the way we serve the needs of the community and in the process has grown the impact of the Y on this community for decades to come. We owe a lot of thanks and praise for his leadership, and he and his family will be missed,” said Mike Hierl, Fond du Lac Family YMCA Board President.
The community is invited to an Open House scheduled for Giles on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Thelma Sadoff Center For the Arts, 51 Sheboygan Street, Fond du Lac.
