Fond du Lac Family YMCA is participating in the Five Days of Action, April 15-19, 2024. The Five Days of Action is a weeklong campaign to raise awareness and inspire adults to take action to protect children from sexual abuse. The Fond du Lac Family YMCA will have an informational booth set up in the lobby of the Y for educational purposes and will be sharing information to the public on our Facebook page. Five Days of Action is an initiative of the YMCA Champions for Child Protection, with support from YMCA of the USA.
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA encourages adults and organizations to join in marking this week. By taking part in this important campaign and implementing abuse prevention practices year-round, our Y is committing to the safety of all children in our community, making it a safer place for children to live, learn, and play. With summer right around the corner—when children gather for activities and camps, it is a wonderful time to bring attention to the simple ways we can all make the children in our community safer.
“The children of the Fond du lac area community have the right to a happy and safe childhood, and it’s our responsibility as adults and organizations to stand up to protect that right,” said Kristel Lougher, Associate Executive Director, Fond du Lac Family YMCA. “By joining in the Five Days of Action campaign, we hope to inspire other organizations and members of our community to create safe spaces that protect children from sexual abuse.”
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is both honored and respectful of the trust that caregivers place in our Y. Creating a safe environment in physical, social and emotional realms are at the center of our work and relationships. A safe setting for children combined with quality programming is the most important part of our focus upon youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are part of everything we do. We place great value on providing a child-centered and child-safe environment and work each day to create an atmosphere where children grow and thrive.
